  • The Floating city is a project that explores the frequent high tides that have been hitting Venice in autumn 2019.

In November 2019 Venice has been too often waken up by the sound of high water sirens, which alert the population about upcoming floods.

High tide has always been a thing in Venice arising curiosity in tourists who almost see

those events as a part of Venice attractions and instead making life very hard for people who live there.

On November 12th 2019 Venice went through the second worst high tide in the city history, after the one in 1966. The water reached the 187 cm covering the 80 % of the city’s surface compared to the 194 cm in 1966. the water and the wind were so strong that caused millions of euros of damage all around Venice and in the islands

    surrounding it.
